FAQ

Will I receive a certification?

Yes.  You will receive a certificate for 150 Hours Mat Pilates Training.

Great question. It’s common to want to take a training just to improve your own personal practice, alignment, or understanding of the modality, while not wanting to teach in a classroom.

If you do not want the certification, you don’t have to take the final exam(s).

Yes. We will hold Community Classes on Sunday mornings to gain further experience. The Business of Pilates course will help prepare for application to teaching opportunities.

It happens; there will be an opportunity to rewrite your exam if necessary.

The Repertoire: Beginner, intermediate and advanced exercises (traditional mat sequences)

Advancing the Repertoire: How to incorporate props safely and effectively (resistance bands, Pilates ball, ring, weights)

Creating the Art of Flow: Learn to sequence and coordinate flow, stretch, strength, and functional movement to create not only a classic Pilates session but also a fusion style class.

Anatomy: Learn anatomy especially as it relates to core stability and balance. The anatomy will be presented in interactive in-person workshops.  The course will also focus on understanding the Respiratory System and the Nervous System.

Biomechanics, Kinstretch concepts and Functional Movement

Yoga Therapy and Clinical Pilates: Introduction on how to look at particular conditions and prepare classes for Private Clients.  These workshops will also help adapt movements to create accessible classes for a wide variety of students in group classes.

Sequencing and Cueing: Learn the principles of clear and concise cueing for a variety of learning styles.  Create class sequences for challenge and nervous system balance.

History of Pilates: Focus on the evolution and understanding of Pilates strength and how different movement influences have created present-day Pilates.

Music: This course will teach how to create a playlist.

This is a four-month intensive course. Between the weekend workshops, readings will be assigned, and students are expected to take two classes a week and provide feedback on the classes attended.

In order to graduate with a 150 Hour Mat Pilates Training Certificate, attendance is required at the weekend workshops, submitting a plan for a 45-minute class, teaching a full class to receive feedback and preparing an anatomy presentation on a common injury or condition.

This 150-hour Pilates teacher training course is designed for fitness professionals, current movement instructors, and dedicated practitioners wanting to teach Mat Pilates class and/or Fusion of Pilates with Flow. It suits beginners with a solid personal practice as well as experienced yoga teachers, personal trainers, physical therapists and dedicated movement students looking to add specialized core-conditioning skills to their toolkits.
