MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS

Lyndsey Bishop - Senior Faculty and Lead Trainer, Yoga Asanas (poses), Philosophy, Pranayama and Meditation

Lyndsey’s (BA, ERYT-200, RYT-500) love for yoga began when she started practicing in the late 1990s. What started out as enjoyment for the physical benefits of yoga, quickly expanded into a deeper appreciation for the truly transformational aspects of the practice. Lyndsey completed her first yoga teacher training in 2007 and has since studied with teachers in Canada, the U.S. and India, becoming certified in several different modalities, including Hatha Yoga and Meditation. Through her mentors and teachers Lyndsey’s continues to cultivate deeper understanding of the traditional Eastern roots of yoga, focusing on Sanskrit, traditional chanting, meditation, pranayama and intense study of the traditional yoga scriptures.

Georgia Mamakis - Senior Faculty and Lead Trainer, Yoga Asanas (poses), Yoga Philosophy, Pranayama and Meditation

Georgia Mamakis (BA, ERYT-200, RYT-500) is a 500 RYT Toronto-based Yoga and Meditation teacher who believes that Yoga is the “path to freedom”. Every moment is our opportunity for Sadhana (practice) and the ultimate goal is liberation. She has been immersed in the yoga community for over 20 years, beginning her teaching journey in 2010. Her physical practice of Hatha, Vinyasa and Restorative has undoubtedly inspired her journey to the metaphysical, giving her many opportunities to share her knowledge and become an authority in yoga philosophy and meditation practices. Her goal is to hold a space of purity and authenticity and continue to teach as a student on her endless journey, bringing stillness to the mind.

Chris Kummer - Senior Faculty, Yoga Anatomy

Chris (BHS., Adv.Dip.Nat., Adv.Dip.Herb., Adv.Dip.Nut., Dip.Hom. E-RYT, YACEP) brings over 20 years of experience as a yoga instructor and naturopath, and sees the solutions and answers to movement and posture questions in fascia-based anatomy. Having helped thousands of students in over 150 in-person yoga teacher trainings become good friends with their more functional bodies, Chris also offers online trainings and yoga anatomy courses. Chris’ fascination with the moving body began after being diagnosed with scoliosis in primary school. Unsuccessfully trying various medical approaches, his back was straightened-out and strengthened through regular yoga practice, which prompted a curiosity for movement and healthy training approaches, leading Chris to study medicine. He then became a naturopath to create a better understanding of treatment for the person as a whole. Chris believes that the times of learning terminology and rehearsing textbooks that focus on muscles and bones are over; instead his classes provide an easy-to-follow educational environment that is instructional, humorous and practical to help students better understand and appreciate the relationships and interconnections between muscles and tissues, which are connected and influenced by the nervous system and breath.

Nicky Poole - Senior Faculty, Creative Sequencing

Nicky’s (BA, E-RYT 500, RCYT, RPYT, YACEP) embodied movement is rooted in the prana flow system created by Shiva Rea, which she has studied since 2006. She brings more than two decades of yoga practice and extensive training in multiple lineages such as Ashtanga, restorative, natal, Yin, and Pilates, to name a few.

Nicky has owned and operated studios in Vietnam and Canada since 2004, and has developed and delivered 200 and 300 hr trainings, as well as pre and post-natal teacher trainings for fifteen years. In 2002, she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Asian Art, with a focus on the visual roots of yoga, as part of the Yogic Studies Certificate (2019) at SOAS, University of London, England. She continues to study Sanskrit language, and textual studies of various yoga traditions through Yogic Studies in California.

In an effort to share her love of yoga, she established a vibrant online digital yoga subscription service called Leelapod in 2020.  She now serves her local community as a yoga teacher and mentor to new teachers in Toronto, runs teacher trainings and workshops, and is a yoga consultant across Canada.

Hassan Harake - Supporting Faculty, Yoga Labs and Core Asanas

Hassan (ERYT-200) was convinced to join a friend for his first yoga class in 2007 and hasn’t looked back since. Having suffered with chronic back and sleep issues for as long as he could remember, he quickly saw the benefits and relief from the practice. In 2013, he decided to take his practice to the next level and completed a ERYT-200 certified teacher training. Since then, he has taught hundreds of classes while maintaining his own commitment to practice. Hassan’s direct approach to the physical practice focusses on alignment, balance and controlled movement to challenge the body while maintaining steadiness of breath and intention. His goal is to create an environment where students can develop at their own pace, discovering new abilities by adding elements of strength and enjoying a playful practice.

Amanda Stokes - Guest Faculty, Trauma-Informed Yoga
