This lecture will focus on identifying the muscles of the lower body as well as muscles that comprise the ‘core’. You will gain an understanding around where these muscles are, how they work with the rest of the body’s muscles and how they can be strengthened, stabilized and lengthened in relation to the practice of yoga.
You will also explore the concept of ‘stretching’ versus ‘strengthening’ and gain a deep understanding of how and why you need to approach movement and your yoga practice with a clear focus on the benefits of both.
From 9am – 10am students will explore muscles of the core in lecture and then from 10am – 11am will move through a yoga asana class applying the theory.
From 12pm – 4pm students will learn about muscles of the lower body and the an over view of the nervous system. You will be looking at stress management and understanding how the nervous system is bolstered by the practice of yoga.
This is a great introductory lecture and suitable for students of all levels.
