Linda Malone – Teacher & Owner

Understanding the connection between the body and the mind has been the focus of Linda’s practice and study of yoga. As a student of yoga for almost 10 years, she is passionate about bringing her own lessons as a student to the class room in her style of teaching. A graduate of the University of Toronto with a major in Semiotics and Communication Theory she understands that the best way to teach is to continue to learn and strives to inspire her students to the same.  Her love of yoga has translated into her ability to lead students through challenging and dynamic classes in an attempt to guide students toward developing their own moving meditation over time.  She regularly combines anatomical focus, philosophical discussion and intuitive adjustment to each class so that every student may find some way to relate to their own practice and the goals of that practice. She has completed an 800 hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training through Moksha Yoga, and has since completed courses on yoga anatomy with Susi Hately-Aldous and has learned from teachings on mindfulness meditation with Frank Jude Boccio, author of Mindfulness Yoga. She is preparing to begin coursework on The Foundations of Yoga, a yoga study course through Georg Feuerstein’s Traditional Yoga Studies Program.  A teacher of hot yoga, hatha and flow yoga, Linda has also worked privately with clients to help improve sports performance and rehabilitate from injury.

Aura Carcueva – Teacher

Aura was first introduced to Ashtanga yoga in 1996.  It was part of her movement class in the theatre and dance program where she received her Bachelor in Fine Arts.  Her love for hot yoga started with Bikram, introduced to her in 2002, which then led her to Moksha and other kinds of hot yoga and she’s been hooked ever since.  Aura carries lightheartedness in her teachings but at the same time challenges each individual to go to their edge.   Her training in dance and physical theatre supports her teachings by honing in to proper alignment and use of breath.   She has an eye and the touch to support a posture whether it’s for an advanced student or your very first class!

Daniel Uy – Teacher

Daniel tried his first hot yoga class in 2003 and could not believe how great he felt. Daniel began pushing himself to see how far he could go and learned as much as he could about yoga and most importantly, himself.

Becoming a yoga teacher was a natural extension of this process for him.

Daniel teaches as he tries to live: openly, honestly and willing to change and grow into something more. He takes that same perseverance and enthusiasm into the practice room. He encourages his students to challenge themselves and their perceptions of where they are and where they can be.”

Holly Miller – Teacher

Holly is someone who would describe herself as having a youthful spirit, but a ripened soul.   Almost 10 years ago, the pressures of school, a competitive swimming stint, and all of the other challenges life throws into the mix left Holly longing for a little more peace in her life, and a need to reconnect. Ultimately, this led her to participate in her first hatha yoga class, and shortly thereafter Yoga became the Yin to Holly’s Yang.

Holly has participated in over 1000 hours of Hatha and Moksha yoga (hot series) training.  The latter enabled her to travel across the world to India for a life-changing, mind-opening, heart-BURSTING experience.  During this time she spent 30 days with some of the most incredible people on the planet…who in turn became life-long friends.

Having spent her undergraduate degree studying earth sciences, and consumer culture, Holly really values Moksha’s commitment to making responsible environmental choices.  In a world so wrapped up in consumption and excess, communities like Moksha cultivate atmospheres where progressive thinking can flourish.  A strong advocate for healthy living and continued education, Holly believes in asking questions…lots of questions, and looking beyond the surface.  Holly practices regularly and aspires to complete the Baptiste Power Flow method and begin her Anusara training in the new year.

Holly’s classes reflect her contagious passion for yoga.  Her path has been guided by brilliant and enlightening teachers who have not only truly been mentors, but have enabled Holly to live life with a full heart, a calm mind, and an awakened spirit.

Jess Lemon – Teacher

At the age of 18, Jessica Lemon fell in love with yoga after her very first sweaty class in Vancouver.  She has been intimately involved with hot yoga ever since. Well versed in Bikram, Moksha and recently Power Yoga, Jessica also teaches Yin, Resorative, and Kid’s yoga at studios in Toronto, London, Montreal, and Trinidad. She received her Moksha Yoga teaching certificate in 2004 and has been teaching and travelling ever since. While completing her Honours Bachelor’s of Arts degree in French language and literature at the University of Toronto, Jessica took her love for yoga across the pond and taught both in English and French in Nantes, France.  She has since trained with Baron Baptiste in Maya Talum, Mexico, and has completed a teaching stint in Port of Spain, Trinidad.  What she has discovered through her frequent travels is that yoga transcends all differences in language, culture, and environment.  It touches to the core of human experience. She feels privileged to help people find the strength, support, and love they need to heal and grow.

Joanne Jaffey – Teacher

Joanne began practicing yoga 8 years ago, while completing her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition at Ryerson University.  She has since trained in the Bikram, Moksha and Ashtanga yoga systems. She is ever grateful to the amazing teachers and students who have inspired her along the way, and she has witnessed and experienced the transformative powers of yoga – on and off the mat.  When life gets complicated and our minds become cluttered, yoga fosters balance, nourishes our spirits and reminds us to be true to ourselves.

Jonny Belink – Teacher

Jonny has his undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Environmental Sciences (Trent University).  He spent most of 2005 and 2006 in Taiwan at Space Yoga Studio where he taught and studied yoga full-time. He feels strongly connected to the word “Balance”, which carries him throughout his practice, his teaching, as well as his day-to-day life.

Julie McClure – Teacher

With over a decade of experience working in the intense field of corporate finance in Toronto and New York, Julie is a strong believer that yoga is a support system for both the body and the mind.  Having studied both Ashtanga and Vinyasa Fusion yoga at Maya Yoga (Hawaii), she is passionate about yoga and sees the practice as an opportunity to heal physical ailments and to become more in touch with one’s true self.  Julie enjoys leading students through challenging flow classes that are rooted in tradition and focused on alignment, flexibility, stamina and strength.

Lexi Pathak – Teacher

Lexi was introduced to Yoga during a stressful time as a graduate Journalism student in Montreal.  She immediately fell head over heels for sweating it out in the heat under the guidance of the most amazing teachers at Moksha Montreal who challenged her mentally and physically in new ways every day. After completing her studies and not yet ready to jump into career mode, Lexi completed her Moksha teaching training in 2006.  She begain teaching in Montreal immediately after, and gravitated towards the opportunity of sharing her passion of yoga with others.  Inspired by a variety of yoga practices and the chance to switch things up, Lexi loves the freedom that Iam Yoga studio gives her to make yoga a form of play. The perfect offset for a crazy busy life and type A personality, for Lexi yoga = love.
